Eating like a Maniac

Another daily artwork from nearly three years ago. But it is a good mirror of what I am feeling these days. This is titled "Dear Dymo".

Tree Lizards in Love

Here is the couple I saw hanging around on our patio or on a wood pile quite often. Another favorite place of theirs was the trunk of an Ash tree. They also liked the top of the patio table under and around the potted tomato and pepper plants I was growing there this past summer.

Waiting for Spring to reappear

I'm already tired of this dreary weather. I know we will have a brief wonderful Spring season followed by punishing Summer heat. I do love the Spring, watching the lizards come out to sun themselves. Have a couple of these little guys that I frequently see hanging around together. I think they are a couple and not both guys after all. Last Summer I saw a few tiny little copies of this lizard bravely making his or her way across the patio to the shade of the crepe myrtle.

Mothers got the Back to School Blues

And my kids aren't even in school anymore.

Scrap Book Fever!

Have you been to a craft store lately? Wow! Scrap-booking is every mother's passion.
This drawing/collage is from early 2007.

"Designing for Gwyneth Paltrow" or "He Longs for Skin"

Part of my original everyday art drawings from early 2007. I draw something everyday, just haven't posted in quite a while.

Shirley and the Inkspots

Sleepy sketches, usually at night. Looking at Shirley or the TV while drawing. Not looking at the paper surface while I draw, so figures float around the page, overlap, have different angles and different energies than I first envisioned. So far I am pleasantly surprised by all of these light-weight drawings.

"Sasso,Carta,Forbici (Rock,Paper,Scissors)"

Mixed media on found wood with found objects from Texas, New York City, and Italy.
approximately 30" w x 11" h x 2" d

“Sasso, Carta, Forbici (Rock, Paper, Scissors)”
addresses the Scientific Law of Conservation, that matter can neither
be created nor destroyed, and also gives a nod to the spiritual idea of
reincarnation and rebirth through that same principle. The classic game
where one opponent can always best the next is repeated in nature and in
human history: the roots of trees from which paper is derived can crack the
mightiest mountains. Human hands forge swords of metal and rock mined from those
mountains, and swords have shredded declarations of political or
religious liberty throughout the ages. Like the tiny seeds from which the trees
sprout, the seeds of political, philosophical and religious ideals carry on and
so do we. I prefer using found objects in my work to bring together the ideas
they suggest to me, a sort of visual poem. Like a poem, it will mean
something different to each viewer and I offer it thus for your own
interpretation.
